““I have had the privilege and honour to work with a union that directly supports a sector that employs millions of people, the majority being women and the impact I keep seeing is commendable. We aim to sensitize workers on the right to join a union and collectively bargain for better terms and conditions of work. I urge all workers in the sector to join TTWU because Unity is Power. It is within us to seize the moment and create lasting impressions to lives and livelihoods across the country”

“I have worked in several Tailors, Textiles, and Garments Industries in Kenya where the working conditions and environment were very poor. Poor workers' rights, lack of freedom of association, exploitation, oppression and Sexual Harassment & Gender-Based violations were very common. The expatriates in managerial positions frequently used abusive language to belittle local workers. Discrimination in employment based on sex, gender, and union membership were frequent. As I searched for a solution to these poor working conditions, I a TTWU organizer. At the time, we were unaware of Trade Union’s existence and its activities to champion for workers' rights and conducive working environment including Occupational, Health, and Safety at the Workplace. We joined the union en-mass and up to date our conditions and terms of employment have improved, our rights and freedom of association are granted because of the intervention of TTWU and the leadership. It is the place to be for all workers in the Tailors, Textiles, and Garment factories to join this union for a better future”
“As an employee, Union has been very instrumental in my job security since I have been able to work for more than five (5) years something which was not there before. My terms and conditions of employment have also improved over the years with the review of CBA’s where the basic minimum wage has been increased by at least 7% per year among other non-monetary terms and conditions. Our union has also organized several trainings whereby I have been sensitized on my rights in the Labour Laws”
